Allied schools - Correspondence - Certificate
Allied is a correspondence school whose medical coding program covers CPT Standard, ICD-9-CM, HCPCS Level II and advanced medical terminology. The program supplies its own laptop and prepares students to take the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification exam.
University of Phoenix - Online - Associate
The Axia College extension of the University of Phoenix offers a Health Care Administration program with emphasis in Medical Records. The program focuses on terminology and administration related to diagnosis and treatment, and records management, also covering claims management and specialized computer training.
AIU online - Online - Associate
American Intercontinental University's online Associate of Arts in Business Administration (AABA) includes a concentration in medical billing and coding. The program covers medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, health information law, database management and computer science, and prepares students for a variety of health information positions.
Berkeley College - Campus, Online – Associate
The Health Services Administration - Medical Insurance, Billing, and Coding A.A.S. degree program at this New York and New Jersey business college provides skills related to health care administration as well as medical billing and coding. The program, which is also available through the school's online campus, covers medical terminology, health care ethics and law matters, computing, and an insurance course, as well as related business and liberal arts courses.
Brown Mackie College - Campus - Diploma, Certificate
Brown Mackie's certificate and diploma programs delve into patient record analysis, insurance reimbursement and coding guidelines. They are available to students in Ohio, Michigan and Kansas, and leave graduates prepared for entry-level employment in medical billing.
Everest College - Campus – Certificate
This program covers topics such as medical terminology, administration, insurance coding, and coding for a variety of body systems. The course also includes manually and electronically simulated insurance form preparation, as well as patient interviewing and documentation practice. It also includes a 160-hour hands-on work experience program.
Florida Career College - Campus - Diploma
This Florida college's medical billing and coding diploma program is available at all of the school's eight campuses, and is usually around 12 months long. The program covers medical terminology, anatomy, human diseases and pharmacology, in addition to basic medical coding and billing skills.
Kaplan Career Institute - Campus - Diploma
Kaplan Career Institute's medical billing and coding diploma is available at the school's Boston, Harrisburg and Nashville campuses. The program includes lectures and lab training in insurance, dental claims and medical terminology, as well as legal issues, insurance fraud and equipment use. Graduates will be prepared to take the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) examination sponsored by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

This school's certificate and diploma programs are offered at a variety of campuses throughout California, Colorado, Indiana, Maryland and Nevada. Programs cover medical record analysis and coding, database concepts, medical bookkeeping, medical terminology and records management.
Lincoln Technical Institute - Campus, Online - Associate
This school's medical billing and coding program is available online, or at several of its ground locations as part of the Medical Administration program. Training includes insurance matters, technical training and federal and state regulations, as well as pharmacology, health information law and ethics, and business training.
National College - Campus - Diploma
National's diploma program includes instruction in medical terminology, CPT and ICD coding, HIPAA and third-party reimbursement, and Medicare. Graduates are prepared to take the Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder - Hospital (CPC-H), and Certified Medical Biller (CMB) examinations. The program is available at several campuses in four states.
Rasmussen College - Campus - Diploma
Rasmussen offers a diploma in medical coding that includes Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, ICD-9-CM Coding, Ambulatory Care Coding, Pathology, and Medical Law and Ethics. The school's career services also assist graduates in finding career placement.
Remington College - Campus - Diploma
Remington's diploma program focuses on computer applications, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and CPT and HCPCS coding systems. The nine-month program is available at several campuses across the midwestern and southern states.
Sanford-Brown College - Campus - Diploma
This college's program goes over medical coding training in the areas of billing practices and systems, reimbursement systems, data abstracting, health record maintenance and healthcare computer applications. It ends with an externship at an outside medical clinic. The program is offered at all eight of the school's locations throughout Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Ohio, Texas and Virginia.
Sanford-Brown Institute - Campus – Diploma
Sanford-Brown Institute is the branch of the Sanford-Brown family that specializes in medical programs. Its medical billing and coding program is similar to the one at Sanford-Brown College, but is available at the Institute's campuses in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Virginia College - Campus - Diploma, Certificate
The certificate and diploma programs at this southern college include training in Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), ICD-9-CM, and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS). The program also includes an externship under the supervision of a nurse of other health care professional.
